In Kamilaroi tradition, the Meamei were pursued by Wurrunnah and fled to the sky, where Baiame placed them as the Pleiades star cluster.
Wurrunnah captured two of the Meamei (Seven Sisters) and tried to force them to be his wives in a well-known Kamilaroi Dreamtime story. The sisters eventually escaped by climbing pine trees that grew into the sky, rejoining their sisters in the Pleiades.
