Bunjil and Pallian are brothers in Kulin tradition, the two complementary creator beings who together shaped the landscape — Bunjil the mountains and people, Pallian the rivers and waterways.
Pallian shaped the rivers, seas, and underground waterways of Kulin country during the Dreamtime, with the Birrarung (Yarra River) flowing through the heart of the land his brother Bunjil had raised from the earth.
