Ériu lay with Elatha mac Delbaith when the Fomorian king came to her from the sea in a silver vessel, and from their union Bres the Beautiful was born — half Tuatha Dé Danann, half Fomorian.
The Tuatha Dé Danann descended through the sky in a dark cloud upon Ireland, bringing with them the arts of sorcery, druidry, and every craft — a divine race who conquered the Fir Bolg and ruled until the coming of the Milesians.
When the Milesians reached Ireland, Donn insulted the goddess Ériu and refused to honor her name. The druids of Ireland raised a storm in retribution, and Donn was drowned off the coast of Kerry — the first Milesian to die in the land he sought to conquer.
