The Tuatha Dé Danann met the Fir Bolg at the plain of Mag Tuired, and in four days of battle broke their power and slew their king Eochaid mac Eirc, though Nuada lost his arm in the fighting.
The Fir Bolg were the third wave of settlers to reach Ireland, ruled by their last king Eochaid mac Eirc until the Tuatha Dé Danann defeated them at the First Battle of Mag Tuired. Tailtiu, a Fir Bolg queen, later fostered Lugh and cleared the plains that bear her name.
