Bran mac Febail sailed across the western sea to Mag Mell after an Otherworld woman appeared at his court singing of the land without grief, sickness, or death. He and his company feasted there in timeless joy, but when one of his men leaped ashore upon returning to Ireland, he crumbled to ash — centuries had passed in the mortal world.
An Otherworld woman appeared to Connla on the Hill of Uisneach and sang of a deathless land beyond the sea. For a month he ate only her apple that never diminished, until she returned in a boat of glass and Connla stepped aboard without a word — sailing west to Mag Mell, never seen in Ireland again.
Fand, wife of Manannán, lured Cú Chulainn to Mag Mell where he fought battles on her behalf and became her lover — until Manannán reclaimed Fand and shook his cloak between them so they would never meet again.
