Arthur's father, a war-leader of Britain whose epithet Pendragon ('Head Dragon' or 'Chief Warrior') he passed to his son. In early Welsh poetry he appears in a poem attributed to Taliesin, and Geoffrey of Monmouth elaborated his story with the deception at Tintagel.
