  Bodvild bore Wayland's child after he drugged and assaulted her as part of his revenge against her father Niðuð. In later tradition, the child was the hero Witege, inheritor of his father's smithing legacy.

  ⚠ The V\u00f6lundarkvi\u00f0a confirms B\u00f6\u00f0vildr\u2019s pregnancy but does not name the child. The identification as Witige/Vidga comes from the \u00dei\u00f0reks saga and Dietrich cycle tradition.

  Witege, once Dietrich's companion, defected to Ermenrich and slew Dietrich's young nephews at the Battle of Ravenna. Dietrich pursued him in fire-breathing rage, but Witege escaped into the sea, leaving Dietrich to grieve over the bodies of his kin.
