King of Argos who imprisoned his daughter Danaë in a bronze tower after the Pythia prophesied that her son would kill him. Despite his efforts, Zeus visited Danaë as a shower of gold, and their son Perseus eventually fulfilled the oracle by accidentally killing Acrisius.
