  • Glaucus fought alongside Hector in the defense of Troy, serving as co-commander of the Lycian allies. In Iliad 17, Glaucus rebuked Hector for abandoning Sarpedon's body to the Greeks.

  • Sarpedon and Glaucus, both descendants of Bellerophon, jointly commanded the Lycian contingent at Troy. Glaucus mourned Sarpedon's death and prayed to Apollo to heal his own wounds so he could defend his cousin's body.

  • In post-Homeric tradition, Ajax killed Glaucus during the final stages of the Trojan War, striking down the Lycian commander who had been one of Troy's staunchest defenders.

  • After Sarpedon's death, the wounded Glaucus prayed to Apollo to heal him so he could defend his kinsman's body. Apollo answered the prayer, closing Glaucus's wound and filling him with renewed strength.

  • In Iliad 6, Glaucus and Diomedes met between the battle lines and discovered their grandfathers had been guest-friends. They exchanged armor as a pledge of friendship, with Glaucus giving golden armor worth a hundred oxen for Diomedes' bronze worth nine.

  • In Iliad 12, Glaucus joined Sarpedon in the assault on the Greek defensive wall. When Teucer's arrow wounded Glaucus in the arm, he withdrew from the rampart to conceal his injury from the enemy.
