Hylas sailed with the Argonauts as Heracles's young companion. His abduction by water nymphs at Mysia caused Heracles to abandon the voyage in search of him.
In Apollonius's Argonautica, Glaucus rose from the sea to reveal to the Argonauts that Hylas had been abducted by water nymphs and that Heracles remained behind searching for him.
