Euphorbus, Polydamas, and Hyperenor are the three sons of Panthous, a Trojan elder on Priam's council. All three fought in the Trojan War; Euphorbus and Hyperenor were killed by Menelaus.
Born on the same night, Polydamas and Hector serve as complementary Trojan leaders throughout the Iliad. Homer contrasts them: Polydamas excels in counsel while Hector surpasses all with the spear (Il. 18.252).
In Iliad 14, Polydamas kills the Boeotian leader Prothoenor with a spear-cast to the shoulder during the fighting at the Greek ships.
Polydamas serves as a counselor in King Priam's Troy, advising the Trojan leadership alongside Hector during the war councils described in the Iliad.
