Eldest and most illustrious of Rishabhadeva's hundred sons, Bharata Chakravartin ruled the earth with such righteousness that the subcontinent took his name — Bharatavarsha. He later renounced his kingdom for forest asceticism but became attached to a deer, delaying his liberation.
