Mythology & Lore
Kubera's General
In the Sabha Parva of the Mahabharata, Manibhadra appears among the Yakshas and Gandharvas gathered at Kubera's court on Mount Kailash. He commands the spirit legions that guard the earth's hidden riches.
His cult belonged to the roads. Merchants built shrines to Manibhadra at crossroads and mountain passes, the places where the need for protection was sharpest. They left offerings before journeys and prayed for safe return. Yaksha statues bearing his dedications survive from Mathura.
