  Vrishabhanu, chieftain of the cowherds at Barsana, and his wife Kirtida found the infant Radha on a lotus, luminous and blind until Krishna's gaze first opened her eyes, and raised her as their daughter.

• Krishna(spouse)— Consort

  Radha is Krishna's eternal beloved in Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. Their love in Vrindavan, celebrated in Jayadeva's Gita Govinda, represents the supreme expression of divine love (prema).

  ⚠ The Brahma Vaivarta Purana describes a formal marriage between Radha and Krishna, while the Gita Govinda and most devotional poetry present their love as parakiya (extra-marital), with Radha married to another.

Aspect of

• Devi

  Radha is Devi's manifestation as the supreme form of devotional love — Krishna's eternal beloved, inseparable from him as Shakti is from Brahman, her longing and union with the divine herdsman embodying the highest spiritual union.

• Lakshmi

  Radha is the supreme manifestation of Lakshmi's love for Vishnu, descended as Krishna's eternal beloved in Vrindavan to enact the highest form of divine passion.

  ⚠ Gaudiya Vaishnavism reverses the direction, placing Radha above Lakshmi as the original Shakti from whom Lakshmi expands. Brahma Vaivarta Purana supports both readings in different sections.
