Shikhandi is the reincarnation of Amba, the princess of Kashi who immolated herself after vowing vengeance against Bhishma. Reborn as Drupada's child, initially female as Shikhandini, Amba fulfilled her vow when Shikhandi caused Bhishma's fall at Kurukshetra.
