  • Hanuman found Sita captive in Ravana's Ashoka grove in Lanka. He delivered Rama's signet ring as proof of identity, and Sita gave him her hair jewel to carry back to Rama.

  • Kaikeyi's boons forced Rama into fourteen years of exile. Sita chose to accompany Rama into the forest rather than remain in the palace, sharing every hardship of the exile Kaikeyi caused.

  • Ravana carried Sita to Lanka and imprisoned her in the Ashoka Vatika, where she refused his advances and endured captivity for nearly a year. Hanuman found her there weeping beneath a shimshapa tree, and Rama's war to free her consumed the golden city in flame.

  • Maricha disguised himself as a golden deer to lure Rama away from Sita. His deception created the opening for Ravana to abduct Sita from the forest hermitage.
