  Izanagi and Izanami created Onogoro, the first island, by stirring the primordial sea with the jeweled spear Ame-no-Nuhoko.

  Izanagi and Izanami thrust the jeweled spear Ama-no-Nuboko into the primordial ocean from the Floating Bridge of Heaven and stirred. The brine that dripped from its tip coalesced into Onogoro, the first island of the world.

• Ama-no-Ukihashi

  Izanagi and Izanami stood upon Ama-no-Ukihashi, the Floating Bridge of Heaven, and thrust the jeweled spear into the primordial ocean below, creating Onogoro from the brine that dripped from its tip.

• Ashihara no Nakatsukuni

  Onogoro was the first landmass to emerge from the primordial ocean, formed when Izanagi and Izanami stirred the sea. It served as the foundation from which they created the islands of Ashihara no Nakatsukuni (Kojiki).
