Tamanoya, the divine jewel-maker, crafted the Yasakani no Magatama, the great curved jewel necklace that would be hung upon the sacred sakaki tree to lure Amaterasu from her cave and become one of the three Imperial Regalia.
Amaterasu bestowed the three Imperial Regalia upon Ninigi before his descent from Takamagahara: the Yata no Kagami (mirror), Kusanagi no Tsurugi (sword), and Yasakani no Magatama (jewel), commanding him to rule the earthly realm as she rules heaven.
The Yasakani no Magatama was hung on the sakaki tree before Ama-no-Iwato alongside the Yata no Kagami as part of the ritual offering to lure Amaterasu from hiding (Kojiki).
Izanagi bestowed the Yasakani no Magatama, his sacred necklace of jewels, upon Amaterasu when he appointed her to rule the High Plain of Heaven.
Susanoo crunched Amaterasu's Yasakani no Magatama between his teeth and blew out a mist from which gods were born, proving his heart was pure in the ukei oath trial that decided whether he came to Takamagahara with honest intent.
