As Queen of Yomi, Izanami commands the Yomotsu-shikome, the fearsome hags of the underworld whom she dispatched to chase down Izanagi when he fled after seeing her decayed form.
When Izanagi fled Yomi after witnessing Izanami's decay, she sent the Yomotsu-shikome to pursue him up the dark slope. He escaped through Yomotsu Hirasaka and sealed the passage with the great boulder Chibiki-no-Iwa.
