King Geumwa of Eastern Buyeo took in the banished Yuhwa and sheltered her in his palace, then protected her son Jumong as he grew, shielding the divinely gifted boy from his own sons' jealousy.

King Geumwa cast Jumong's miraculous egg to dogs, horses, and wild beasts to destroy it, but each creature refused to harm it and birds sheltered it with their wings until it was returned to Yuhwa.
