In the Jeju creation myth, Mireuk and Seokga competed to rule the human world by growing flowers. Mireuk's bloomed magnificently, but Seokga cheated by switching them while Mireuk slept, gaining rulership of the flawed present world while the honest Mireuk was displaced to a future age.
Seokga won dominion over Iseung, the human world, by cheating Mireuk in the flower-growing contest, and his dishonest rule explains the imperfection, suffering, and injustice that plague mortal existence.
