The sacred sandalwood (or birch) tree beneath which Ungnyeo prayed to conceive a child after her transformation from bear to woman. Hwanung heard her prayers at the Sindansu and took her as his wife, leading to Dangun's birth. The name Dangun itself may derive from this tree.
