  According to the Samguk Sagi, Habaek is father of three daughters — Yuhwa, Hwonhwa, and Wihwa — river princesses who lived in his underwater palace on the Amnok River.

  Haemosu encountered Yuhwa at the river and pursued her; their union produced Jumong, who was born from an egg after Yuhwa was cast out by Habaek and exposed the egg to sunlight.

  King Geumwa of Eastern Buyeo took in the banished Yuhwa and sheltered her in his palace, then protected her son Jumong as he grew, shielding the divinely gifted boy from his own sons' jealousy.

  Haemosu encountered Habaek's three daughters — Yuhwa, Hwonhwa, and Wihwa — bathing near Bear Mountain and pursued Yuhwa while her two sisters fled back to their father's underwater palace.

  Habaek punished his daughter Yuhwa for the disgrace of her union with Haemosu, stretching her lips three spans long and banishing her from his underwater palace to the Ubal River where fishermen found her.

• Haemosu

  After wedding Yuhwa in Habaek's underwater palace, Haemosu departed to heaven in his dragon chariot and never returned, leaving Yuhwa behind to face her father's wrath and banishment.

• Yongsimyeon

  Yuhwa, Hwonhwa, and Wihwa regularly bathed at Yongsimyeon, the Dragon Heart Pool near Bear Mountain. It was their excursion to this pool that led to Yuhwa's fateful encounter with the sun god Haemosu.

• Yuri

  Yuhwa, Yuri's divine grandmother, preserved the broken sword token left by Jumong and guided Yuri to find it, enabling him to prove his identity and claim the Goguryeo throne.
