Ninsikila presides over Dilmun, the pure land where the raven does not croak and the lion does not kill, a paradise untouched by sickness, old age, or lamentation.
At Ninsikila's plea, Enki commanded Utu to bring fresh water from the earth into Dilmun, transforming the parched paradise into a garden watered by sweet springs and irrigation channels.
After the great Flood, the gods granted Utnapishtim and his wife immortality and settled them in Dilmun, the distant paradise at the edge of the world where Gilgamesh would one day seek them out.
