Description
When the Hero Twins came for Death after slaying the great Anaye, it stood its ground. Without me, it told them, the old would never leave and the young would never come. The earth would fill until nothing could breathe. The Twins let Death stay.
Mythology & Lore
The Sparing
After Monster Slayer and Born for Water had destroyed the great Anaye, they found Death among the beings that remained. It carried no claws and wore no armor. It did not hunt like Yéʼiitsoh or strike from above like Tsé Ninááleeh. But it killed everyone, in time.
Death spoke. Without it, the earth would fill with people until there was no room for new life. The old would never depart to make way for the young. The cycle of generations would stop.
The Twins spared Death, as they spared Old Age and Hunger and Poverty. The world they left behind would carry grief and loss, but the generations would turn.
