• First Man,First Woman

  First Man and First Woman carried the sacred jish through the underworlds during the Emergence, the bundles holding seeds of mountains, patterns of stars, and prototypes of every ceremony that would order the Glittering World.

• Blessingway

  First Man carried the original jish through the underworlds, and its contents — songs, prayers, and sacred objects — became the foundation of the Blessingway, the ceremony from which all other rites derive their power.

• Changing Woman

  Changing Woman taught the Navajo people to construct and use the jish, gathering earth from the four sacred mountains to fill the medicine bundle that carries the power of the Blessingway.

• Hajíínáí

  The sacred Jish (medicine bundles) were carried by First Man and First Woman through the four worlds of the Hajíínáí, containing the seeds of mountains, star patterns, and ceremonial prototypes used to organize the Glittering World.

• Pollen Boy

  When First Man opened the original medicine bundle during the Blessingway, Pollen Boy emerged from within the jish alongside Ripple Girl, bearing the sacred corn pollen that would sanctify every ceremony to follow.
