Mythology & Lore

Attestation

In Völuspá stanza 51, during Ragnarök, the poet calls Loki "Býleistr's brother." Snorri confirms the kinship in Gylfaginning, listing Býleistr and Helblindi as Loki's brothers, sons of Fárbauti and Laufey. That the Völuspá poet could use his name as a kenning for Loki suggests he was once better known than the surviving record shows. No deeds, no attributes, no independent myths have come down.
