Mythology & Lore
Odin's Wolves
Geri and Freki, whose names both mean "the ravenous one" or "the greedy one," are the two wolves that attend Odin in Valhöll. The Grímnismál describes the scene: while the einherjar feast each night on the boar Sæhrímnir, Odin partakes only of wine and gives his meat to the wolves at his side.
Where Huginn and Muninn fly out each dawn and return with news of the Nine Worlds, the wolves stay. They sit at the Allfather's feet and eat what he does not.
