Vísburr married the daughter of Auði the Wealthy and fathered Gisl and Öndur. He later divorced her and refused to return the bride-price, provoking his sons' vengeance.
Gisl and Öndur burned their father Vísburr alive in his hall to avenge their mother's dishonour and reclaim the unpaid bride-price, as recounted in Ynglinga saga and Ynglingatal.
