Description
Odin gave the first humans breath. Vili gave them wit. Vé gave them speech, hearing, and sight. Before that, the three brothers had killed Ymir and built the world from his body. After that, Vé all but vanishes from the myths, surfacing once more in Loki's taunt that Frigg shared her bed with him.

The Slaying of Ymir
Vé is a son of Borr and the giantess Bestla, brother to Odin and Vili. Together the three performed the first act the Norse cosmos required: they killed the primordial giant Ymir.
The Gylfaginning tells what followed. From Ymir's flesh they shaped the earth, and from his blood the seas. His skull became the sky, held at its four corners by four dwarves. The flood of blood from the killing drowned every frost giant except Bergelmir and his wife, who escaped on a hollowed trunk.
Ask and Embla
Walking along the shore, the three brothers found two logs. From these they made the first humans: Ask and Embla. Odin gave them breath and life. Vili gave them wit and feeling. Vé gave them mál ok heyrn ok sjón: speech, hearing, and sight.
The Völuspá names the three creators differently: Odin, Hœnir, and Lóðurr. Whether Vé is Lóðurr or Hœnir, no source settles.
Loki's Accusation
Vé appears once more, in the Lokasenna. Loki turns to Frigg and tells her she took both Vili and Vé into her arms while Odin wandered far from home. Frigg does not deny it. She tells Loki that if Baldr were still alive, he would not dare speak so freely.
