Ürüng Aiyy Toyon leads the Aiyy as their supreme lord, ruling the host of benevolent sky deities from his throne in the ninth heaven and directing their work of sustaining human life in the Middle World.
Ürüng Aiyy Toyon bestows the three kut — iye-kut, buor-kut, and salgyn-kut — upon every human being, sending them down through Ieyiekhsit and Aiyysyt so that each newborn child in the Middle World awakens with a soul bound to the light of the Upper World.
Aan Alakhchyn Khotun and Aiyysyt together sustain the cycle of birth in the Middle World — the earth mother provides the nourishing warmth of the ground, while Aiyysyt brings the soul-gift from above, each birth requiring the cooperation of both goddesses.
