Ellei Bootur arrived in the Lena valley as a destitute wanderer and came to the household of Omogoi Baai, the wealthy patriarch. Through his skill and knowledge, Ellei won the hand of Omogoi's daughter, and from their union sprang the Sakha nation.
Ellei Bootur lifted the first choron of kumiss skyward toward Ürüng Aiyy Toyon, founding the Ysyakh festival that gathers the Sakha people each midsummer to honor the Aiyy gods and celebrate the return of light and warmth.
