• Amitabha

  Chenrezig vowed to liberate every sentient being from suffering, but when he beheld the countless masses still trapped in samsara, his head and body shattered from grief into a thousand pieces. Amitabha gathered the fragments and remade him with eleven heads to see all suffering and a thousand arms to reach every being in need.

• Ishvara

  Chenrezig descended into the realm of Ishvara and subdued the destructive god through the power of compassion, taming his fury and binding him by oath to serve as a protector of the Buddhist dharma.
