Dorje Shugden is an emanation of Manjushri who arose to protect the purity of Tsongkhapa's Gelug teachings against dilution from other lineages.
⚠ The 14th Dalai Lama declared the Dorje Shugden practice harmful in 1996, and the identification as a Manjushri emanation is rejected by many Gelug and all non-Gelug authorities.
Tsongkhapa is regarded as a human emanation of Manjushri. Throughout his life he received direct visions and teachings from the bodhisattva of wisdom, culminating in a famous vision where Manjushri appeared surrounded by a vast assembly of Indian masters and transmitted the definitive view of emptiness.
Yamantaka, the buffalo-headed Destroyer of Death, is the wrathful emanation of Manjushri who conquered Yama himself, proving that wisdom — even in its most terrible form — is mightier than death.
The Rigsum Gonpo are the three bodhisattva protectors of Tibet: Chenrezig embodies compassion, Manjushri embodies wisdom, and Vajrapani embodies power. Together they guard the Tibetan people and the dharma.
