The Rigsum Gonpo are the three bodhisattva protectors of Tibet: Chenrezig embodies compassion, Manjushri embodies wisdom, and Vajrapani embodies power. Together they guard the Tibetan people and the dharma.
The Three Great Bodhisattvas of Indian Mahayana Buddhism are the same triad venerated in Tibetan Buddhism as the Rigsum Gonpo, the Lords of the Three Families, each presiding over one of the three buddha-families of body, speech, and mind.
