Coeus and Phoebe, both children of Gaia and Uranus, produced the Titanesses Leto and Asteria. Through Leto, Coeus became grandfather of Apollo and Artemis.
The Titans Perses and Asteria bore Hecate, whose powers Zeus confirmed when he overthrew the older gods. Through Asteria, Hecate was cousin to Apollo and Artemis.
Asteria, transformed into the island of Delos, provided the birthplace for her nephew Apollo when no other land dared receive the pregnant Leto for fear of Hera's wrath.
Asteria married Eurybia's son Perses, making her Eurybia's daughter-in-law. Their union produced Hecate, connecting Eurybia's sea lineage to the goddess of magic and crossroads.
Phoebe's daughter Asteria flung herself into the sea to escape Zeus's advances and transformed into the island of Delos, which later served as the birthplace of Phoebe's grandchildren Apollo and Artemis.
Zeus pursued Asteria with amorous intent, but the Titaness transformed into a quail and leapt into the sea to escape him. She became the floating island Ortygia, later known as Delos.
