    Mopsus was the son of the prophetess Manto and Apollo. Through Manto, he was grandson of the great Theban seer Tiresias, inheriting an extraordinary prophetic lineage.

  • Amphilochus and Mopsus co-founded the oracle at Mallus in Cilicia after the Trojan War. Their initial cooperation gave way to a fatal dispute over the sanctuary's control.
