Son of Hreidmar and brother of Fafnir and Regin who could take the form of an otter. Loki killed him while he fished in otter form, triggering the demand for Andvari's gold as weregild — setting in motion the curse that would destroy Hreidmar, transform Fafnir into a dragon, and eventually doom Sigurd.
