Hreidmar was father to Fafnir, Regin, and Ótr. After Loki killed Ótr in otter form and paid weregild with Andvari's cursed gold, Fafnir murdered Hreidmar for the treasure and drove Regin away, transforming into a dragon to guard the hoard alone.
