Description
When the Hero Twins came for Hunger after slaying the great monsters, it did not run. It asked a question: who would plant if no one felt want? Who would store food for winter? The Twins had no answer. They let Hunger live.
Mythology & Lore
The Sparing
After Monster Slayer and Born for Water had destroyed the great Anaye, they found Hunger waiting among the beings that remained. It was not a monster. It carried no weapons and wore no armor. But it killed all the same, slowly, through the empty belly and the failed harvest.
Hunger spoke in its own defense. Without want, it told the Twins, no one would plant corn or store food for lean seasons. The labor of growing and gathering would lose its reason. A meal earned through effort satisfied; a meal that came without need was nothing.
The Twins spared Hunger, as they spared Old Age and Poverty and Death. The world they left behind would never be comfortable, but people would work, and the work would matter.
