Mythology & Lore
The Sparing
After Monster Slayer and Born for Water had destroyed the great naayéé', they turned to the lesser beings that troubled the world. Sleep was among them. In O'Bryan's account of the creation story, Monster Slayer confronted Sleep as he had confronted Old Age and Poverty and the others, weapon raised. Sleep did not argue or plead. It reached out and touched the hero with one finger.
Monster Slayer fell into a deep, blissful slumber. When he woke, there was nothing left to debate. He spared Sleep and moved on.
