  • Magni and Móði, Thor's sons, survive the flames and flood of Ragnarök and together claim Mjölnir, carrying their father's hammer into the renewed world.

  • Thor hurled Mjölnir at Hrungnir in their duel, shattering the stone-skulled giant's head. A fragment of Hrungnir's whetstone lodged in Thor's skull, but the hammer struck true.

  • Thor requires Járngreipr, his iron gauntlets, to grip and wield Mjölnir. The gloves are part of the three items — along with Megingjörð and Mjölnir itself — essential to Thor's full power.

  • Thor raises Mjölnir to strike Jörmungandr during the Hymiskviða fishing episode but misses when Hymir cuts the line. At Ragnarök, Mjölnir finally delivers the killing blow, slaying the World Serpent.

  • Loki's wager with the dwarves led to Mjölnir's creation, but his interference as a gadfly caused its famously short handle. Loki also helped recover the hammer in the Þrymskviða by devising Thor's bridal disguise.

  • Mjölnir never misses its mark and always returns to Thor's hand when thrown. He hallowed Baldur's funeral pyre with it, and with it he breaks the skulls of giants from one end of the cosmos to the other.

  • Þrymr, king of the frost giants, stole Mjölnir and demanded Freya as his bride for its return. In the Þrymskviða, Thor disguised himself as Freya and recovered the hammer at the wedding feast.
